A HISTORICAL BACKGROUND The Sookdeo Bissoondoyal G.S was fomerly known as Lallmatie Govt. school. It was opened in 1946. With the creation of another new school at Lallmatie, it was then known as Old Lallmatie G.S. The government`s policy being to name schools after notable persons of the village or of the country, the school was then renamed in 1981 as SOOKDEO BISSOONDOYAL G.S. The surface area of the school is 2876 sq metres.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Sookdeo Bissoondoyal G.S was formerly known as Lallmatie Govt School. It weas opened in 1946. With the creation of a second Primary school in the village, it was known as Old Lallmatie Government School. The government policy`s being to name schools after notable persons of the village or of the country, the school was then renamed in 1981 as SOOKDEO BISSOONDOYAL G.S. The school has a surface area of 2876 square metres.
It is situated in avery quiet place and it is easily accessible. At first the building was not comfortable;the school yard became muddy in rainy weather and very dusty on sunny days. Now everything has changed for the better; though with wear and tear the yard has been badly damaged. The condition of the school has improved thanks to the help of the P.T.A, the N.D.U, the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Education. At present the school does not have any infrastructural problem. The classroom are adequate. The school garden although small is well cared for with various endemic plants. There exists a library which functions normally and the schools doted with a telepnone service, computer room and a projector room. The P.T.A has made it possible to create a Pre-Primary section.
The school participates in all the extra-curricular activities like Sports Day organised by the Ministry and other cultural societies in the vicinity.
